I've recently spent time with the family of a fabulous 101 year old woman who instilled the principle of "love without condition" into all her offspring & theirs. She's done this with loving, but iron-fisted enforcement of her rules (I'm paraphrasing from conversations with her daughters & grandaughters):
- We aggree to disagree but do not fight & argue
- We forgive
- We accept & respect everyone despite our differences
This lovely, wonderful woman not only taught & enforced these rules, but lived them out to the extent of offering forgiveness to a man who killed one of her beloved family members.
I'm excited to learn more from this wonderful group of people & have been inspired to do some of my own research on living a more loving life.
If you are interested, here are a few sites that I've recently visited:
I Take The Vow - "a global movement towards non-violence in thoughts, speech & actions"
Intent - "a place where we can all find inspiration; connect with others; and become who we aspire to be as individuals, as a society, and as a planet."
Philosopher's Notes Podcast - "Brian Johnson nets out the great lessons of humanity for you by synthesizing the latest books on human potential, philosophy and life-empowerment. Get key takeaways, 3 times a week, in synopsis form."
Well, that's just a start. I do know that research & learning aren't really going to make me a better & more loving person (but I'm a learning & research junkie!).
The real test is day-t0-day thoughts, speech & action.
So far, so good today.
